The airline is notable for operating an all-Airbus fleet — one of the few major Chinese carriers to do so — and for its strong focus on routes serving western China, leveraging Chengdu's growing status as a major aviation hub.
Sichuan Airlines gained international attention in 2018 following an in-flight incident involving windshield failure at altitude, after which the crew made an emergency landing in Chengdu. The airline has continued to expand its international reach, including long-haul routes to Europe.
