Biman Bangladesh Airlines
Overview
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the flag carrier of Bangladesh, wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh. Established in 1972 shortly after Bangladesh gained independence, it operates international services to destinations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
The airline is headquartered at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, which serves as its primary hub. Biman has undergone significant fleet modernisation in recent years, retiring older widebody types in favour of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Despite its state-owned status and historical operational challenges, Biman remains an important carrier for the Bangladeshi diaspora and for connecting South Asia with Gulf and European cities.
