Overview
Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East. Founded in 1950 as Gulf Aviation Company, it originally served as a shared flag carrier for several Gulf states before Bahrain became its sole owner. Today it is wholly owned by the Bahraini government.
Operating from Bahrain International Airport in Muharraq, Gulf Air serves destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Europe, and East Africa. The airline has historically been known for its Falcon branding and premium service heritage.
The Falconflyer frequent flyer programme rewards loyal passengers with miles that can be earned and redeemed on Gulf Air flights and with a range of partner airlines and commercial outlets.
Gulf Air has undertaken a fleet and product modernisation programme, introducing the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for long-haul routes alongside a new generation of Airbus narrowbody aircraft, aiming to revitalise its market position in the competitive Gulf aviation landscape.
