Overview
Air Greenland is the national airline of Greenland, providing the essential air transport links that connect Greenland's remote communities with each other and with the outside world.
Founded in 1960 as Grønlandsfly, the airline is jointly owned by the Greenlandic government, the Danish government, and SAS, and operates a unique mixed fleet suited to Greenland's challenging Arctic geography.
In addition to fixed-wing jet and turboprop services, Air Greenland operates helicopter services to settlements that lack runway infrastructure, making it one of the few commercial carriers to maintain a significant helicopter fleet.
The airline is a codeshare partner of SAS and plays a critical role in sustaining year-round connectivity for Greenland's widely dispersed population of approximately 56,000 people.
