Uzbekistan Airways
Overview
Uzbekistan Airways is the flag carrier airline of Uzbekistan, wholly owned by the Uzbekistani government. Founded in 1992 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, it emerged from the Uzbek divisions of Aeroflot to become the national carrier of the newly independent republic.
Operating from its hub at Tashkent International Airport, the airline connects Uzbekistan to destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. It serves as a vital link for the landlocked Central Asian nation, facilitating both business travel and the Uzbek diaspora.
Uzbekistan Airways has been steadily modernising its fleet, replacing older Soviet-era and early Western aircraft with newer Airbus and Boeing types, reflecting the broader economic development and opening of Uzbekistan in recent years.
