Overview
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is the flag carrier of the Republic of Azerbaijan, founded in 1992 following the country's independence from the Soviet Union. It is state-owned and operates from its hub at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.
The airline connects Baku with a network of destinations spanning Europe, Russia and the CIS, the Middle East, Central Asia, and select destinations in China and beyond. Baku's position at the crossroads of East and West gives AZAL a strategic geographic advantage.
AZAL offers the AZAL Miles loyalty programme, allowing frequent flyers to earn and spend miles on the airline's network. The carrier operates both narrowbody and widebody aircraft to serve its route portfolio.
In addition to its main airline operations, the AZAL group includes Silk Way Airlines, a cargo carrier, and has historically operated charter services under associated brands. Azerbaijan Airlines continues to modernise its fleet to improve efficiency and passenger experience.
