Overview
Kuwait Airways is the flag carrier of the State of Kuwait, founded in 1954 and wholly owned by the Kuwaiti government. It operates international services from Kuwait International Airport (KWI) to destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
The airline has a long history as one of the Gulf's pioneering carriers, having built an extensive network during the oil boom years. Following the disruption of the 1990-91 Gulf War, Kuwait Airways undertook a lengthy process of rebuilding and fleet renewal.
A major fleet modernisation programme in the 2010s and 2020s introduced the Airbus A350-900 and A330-800neo for long-haul operations, replacing older widebody aircraft and significantly improving fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.
The Oasis Club frequent flyer programme provides members with miles accrual on Kuwait Airways flights and a selection of partner programmes. The airline continues to expand its reach through codeshare and interline agreements with international carriers.
