VietJet Air

VietJet Air, founded in 2011, was Vietnam's first privately owned low-cost carrier and rapidly disrupted the country's aviation market by stimulating demand with ultra-low fares, growing from a domestic startup to a significant regional player within a few years of launch.

Operating an all-Airbus A320-family fleet, VietJet serves an extensive domestic Vietnamese network as well as international routes across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, India, and Australia, competing directly with state-owned Vietnam Airlines on many trunk routes.

The airline is publicly listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange and has placed large Airbus orders—including A321XLR variants—to support continued network expansion. Its ancillary-revenue model, common among Asian LCCs, generates a meaningful share of total revenue from fees beyond the base fare.

VietJet's marketing has attracted attention for unconventional advertising campaigns, but the airline has also built a solid operational record and launched Thai VietJet as a Bangkok-based affiliate to extend its regional footprint into the Thai market.
