Overview
Widerøe is the largest regional airline in Scandinavia and one of the oldest airlines in Norway, founded in 1934. It is headquartered in Bodø and specialises in short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) operations serving Norway's demanding network of small regional airports.
The airline operates an extensive domestic network within Norway, connecting many remote communities along the coast and in northern Norway that are difficult to access by road or sea. Its operations are critical to maintaining connectivity in Norway's sparsely populated regions under public service obligation contracts.
Widerøe is a subsidiary of SAS Group and operates one of the world's largest fleets of Bombardier Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. In recent years it has also taken delivery of the Embraer E190-E2 jet as it expands its network and modernises its fleet.
