American Airlines

American Airlines is the largest US airline measured by fleet size, revenue, and scheduled passengers carried, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Tracing its roots to 1930, the carrier has grown through a series of mergers — most recently with US Airways in 2013 — into a national network anchored on hubs at Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte, Miami, Chicago O'Hare, and Phoenix.

The mainline fleet is one of the most diverse of any US carrier: Airbus A319, A320 and A321 (including the long-range A321XLR on order for transatlantic), Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 for domestic and short international, and Boeing 777-200ER, 777-300ER and 787-8/-9 wide-bodies for long-haul. Regional flying is contracted to American Eagle subsidiaries.

American is a founding member of the oneworld alliance and a core partner in the transatlantic joint business with British Airways, Iberia and Finnair. The carrier connects to over 350 destinations across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia through its alliance and codeshare network.

AAdvantage is the airline's frequent-flyer programme, one of the oldest in commercial aviation (founded 1981) and one of the largest by membership. The programme offers status tiers from Gold through Executive Platinum and a long list of redemption partners across oneworld and beyond.
