Overview
Azul Brazilian Airlines was founded in 2008 by JetBlue co-founder David Neeleman and rapidly grew to become one of Brazil's three major domestic carriers, distinguished by its focus on underserved secondary cities.
Operating from its main hub at Campinas' Viracopos International Airport, Azul serves more than 150 destinations across Brazil—more than any other airline in the country—as well as a growing number of international routes to the United States, Europe, and South America.
The airline is known for its high customer-satisfaction scores and a cabin product that includes generous legroom in its Azul Business class. Its loyalty programme, TudoAzul, has tens of millions of members and partnerships extending well beyond aviation.
Azul has pursued partnerships with TAP Air Portugal and United Airlines, and in 2024 entered merger discussions with Gol, reflecting ongoing consolidation pressures in the Brazilian aviation market.
