Overview
Aer Lingus is the flag carrier of Ireland, founded in 1936 and headquartered at Dublin Airport. Originally a state-owned airline, it was privatised and subsequently acquired by International Airlines Group (IAG) in 2015, which also owns British Airways and Iberia.
The airline's primary hub is Dublin Airport, from which it operates an extensive transatlantic network to North America — a strategically important corridor given the Irish diaspora and the availability of US Customs pre-clearance at Dublin — as well as a dense short-haul European network.
Aer Lingus operates an Airbus-centric fleet of A320-family narrowbodies for European routes and Airbus A330 wide-bodies for transatlantic services, with orders placed for the A321XLR to open new long-thin routes.
Aer Lingus joined oneworld in 2024 as a full member, granting its passengers access to alliance-wide frequent-flyer reciprocity. Loyalty is managed through the Aer Club programme.
