Philippine Airlines
Overview
Philippine Airlines (PAL), founded in 1941, is Asia's first commercial airline and the flag carrier of the Philippines. After emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in late 2021, the airline relaunched with a leaner balance sheet and a renewed focus on profitable international routes.
As a oneworld alliance member since 2020, PAL connects the Philippines with destinations across Asia, North America, the Middle East, and Oceania, with its primary hub at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
The airline has been renewing its fleet with fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo narrowbodies and Airbus A350 widebodies, replacing older Boeing 777 variants on key long-haul corridors to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and London.
Its Mabuhay Miles loyalty programme offers reciprocal earning and redemption across the oneworld alliance, and the airline's regional subsidiary PAL Express handles a significant portion of domestic interisland traffic within the Philippine archipelago.
