Overview
IndiGo is India's largest airline by market share, founded in 2005 and operated by InterGlobe Aviation. It pioneered the ultra-low-cost model in the Indian domestic market and rapidly grew to dominate the sector within a decade of launch.
The carrier serves an extensive pan-Indian network of over 80 domestic destinations and has steadily expanded internationally to destinations across South Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Its point-to-point model and high aircraft utilisation underpin its cost leadership.
IndiGo operates an almost entirely Airbus A320-family fleet, comprising A320ceo/neo and A321neo variants, supplemented by ATR 72 turboprops for regional routes. The airline's standardised single-type strategy keeps maintenance costs low.
IndiGo does not belong to a global alliance but has codeshare and interline agreements with carriers including Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways. Loyalty is rewarded through the IndiGo BluChip programme.
